Policy Hearing - Serving the Homeless in the Wake of the Grants Pass Ruling

On September 13 Senator Katie Muth, Chair of the Pennsylvania Senate Democratic Policy Committee, along with Senator Nikil Saval and Representative Ismail Smith-Wade-El will hold a hearing on how the Commonwealth can best serve the homeless in the wake of the City of Grants Pass v. Johnson Supreme Court Ruling. In the wake of the ruling, local governments are more empowered to arrest and punish people for sleeping outside when they have nowhere else to go. This hearing will showcase the results we’re getting from the status quo, the specific and general costs of the crueler approaches the Grants Pass decision underwrites, and what alternatives could look like.

This hearing will be at the Lancaster City Hall (120 N Duke St, Lancaster, PA 17602) with a virtual option.
