Deed Fraud

On Tuesday, October 24, Senator Saval hosted a telephone town hall on DEED FRAUD.

Deed fraud occurs when a person sells a home by pretending to be the legal owner without having ever received the owner’s permission. This is becoming a serious issue in our city, robbing people not only of their property, but their safety and stability.

Fortunately, protecting your home and the homes of your loved ones from would-be scammers is simple and easy when you know where to go and what to do. At this telephone town hall, James Leonard, Commissioner of Records of the City of Philadelphia, shared the steps that Philly homeowners can take to safeguard their homes and what to do if they suspect they are being targeted or that deed fraud has occurred.
